A small story which
I came to know during one of the training programmes I have participated in my
current organization. I am happy to share with you all today, as it talks about
simple and plain minded child and how a story he heard had inspired him to do
big in his life.
The story fascinated
to a very large extent for 2 prominent reasons. One, it is set in simple milieu
and two it is about a simple boy who has the eagerness to learn about
everything, every time and on an exciting note, and what more, I could
correlate my growing up years to a
little extent.
The best and most beautiful
things in the world at times may not be seen or even touched - they must be
felt with the heart and as an ardent lover of life and with a belief for living
with gusto, this is what I believe. Anyway, I guess I am talking about myself
too much and now let’s get into the story of the young boy who inspired me
recheck my passion levels.
The story goes like a young boy
from a small, serene village that is truly as
peaceful as it is located geographically. With simple and peaceful mind, the
young boy spends his life not only in his village but in my inspiration too.
Little things do make a
significant impact in life and this young boy too is no exception from this
notion. Somewhere I heard, a creative person is someone who can see an
extraordinary element in an ordinary set up, and this young boy too seemed to
be one of such blokes.

This boy is usually accompanied by his grandmother to his school has to walk through a cross road that has a statue of an able man. This every day affair made him watch the statue and this process has eventually raised several questions about the statue. Haha! Kids are kids, they want to learn and explore everything.
"Tell me a fact and I will learn, tell
me a truth I will believe. But tell me a story it will live in my heart
forever." Is what we all believe in knowingly or unknowingly and same is
the case with this boy too. On this growing up years, the young boy started
walking to his school without his grandmother’s escort and it has also become
his unwritten itinerary to stop by the statue and observe it for a brief time.
This daily soap sort of act continued and
gradually this exercise caught the attention of a nearby grocer and with
uncontrollable curiosity; he questions the young lad, “Son! What makes you stop
by this statue and stare for little time every day?”
With honesty in his voice, sincerity in eyes
and passion in his belief, the young boy replies, “Uncle, one day or other, I
want to become like this honourable person.” The grocer satirically remarks
that, staring at the statue will not make some one big in the society.
The kid shares his innocent coated thought
that it is not the coloured or the lifeless statue that he is looking at,
rather, he explains that he is engrossed by the radiance of the statue that
motivates him to achieve something in life.
He further adds that, we can never be fair
about anything until we can be fair about our own self. “I cannot change the
direction of the wind, but definitely I can adjust and reach my destination
with his inspiration.”
The
grocer realizing his narrow minded thought process said, “Son, you will definitely
be a great person like him as your motivation lies in the little things you see
and observe. This surely takes you to places.” Now, this experience made the
grocer ponder on the question, “Does inspiration come in any size?”
